Trinity Baptist Church is a gathering of believers united by the gospel and committed to making much of Christ in every area of life. Our desire is to know Him through His Word, love His people, and faithfully carry out His mission in our community and beyond.
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him.
Colossians 2:6
Making Much of Christ
At the heart of everything we do is a desire to exalt Jesus Christ. We believe He is worthy of our worship, our obedience, and our lives. Every service, ministry, and relationship within our church is aimed at helping people see His glory more clearly and follow Him more faithfully.
We seek to make much of Christ by cultivating in our church family a deep love and passion for:
His Word
We believe God’s Word is the foundation for life and ministry. Our desire is not only to understand Scripture but to cherish it, obey it, and allow it to shape every area of our lives.
His People
Christ calls His people to worship, serve, and grow together in grace. We believe the local church is where meaningful relationships are formed and believers are strengthened in their walk with the Lord.
His Mission
We want to make Christ known both in our community and around the world. As we proclaim the message of Christ, we also seek to live in a way that reflects the transforming power of His gospel.
What does it mean that we are a Baptist church?
In today's world, there are many opinions—and often some confusion—about what it means to be a Baptist church. For some, the name Baptist may bring to mind cultural assumptions, political associations, or certain issues of practical application. That's why we want to clearly explain why we have chosen to identify as a Baptist church.
Historically, the name Baptist has been defined by specific biblical convictions regarding the church and the Christian faith. The doctrinal distinctives below reflect those convictions and help explain what we believe as a church body.
Believer's Baptism
We believe baptism is for those who have personally trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation. Baptism does not save or preserve someone for salvation later in life. Rather, it serves as a public testimony of the inward work God has already accomplished in the heart of the believer. Because we understand "baptism" to mean immersion, we baptize by fully immersing in water.
Congregational Church Governance
We believe the local church is to be self-governing under the leadership of its pastors and the accountability of its members. At Trinity, we describe our polity as pastor-led and congregationally governed, with church members actively participating in important decisions. Central to this practice is the belief that only those who have a clear salvation testimony and have been baptized may be considered for church membership.
Salvation by Grace Through Faith Alone
We believe salvation is entirely by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. All people are sinners in need of the hope of the gospel, and Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection are the only means by which people can receive forgiveness of sins and the hope of eternal life. Salvation is a free gift of God, which is received by faith alone and can never be earned by works.
The Authority and Sufficiency of Scripture
We believe the Bible is the complete and final authority for faith and life. While traditions, church history, theological formulations, and human opinions have value, only God’s Word carries ultimate authority. Scripture is sufficient to guide how we live, how the church functions, and how decisions are made within the church. We strive to align our church polity and leadership models with what we see in Scripture.
The Soul Liberty of the Believer
We believe every believer is personally responsible before God for their own decisions. While pastors and church leaders are called to teach and shepherd, it is not their place to dictate how church members should live. Each believer must willingly submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit and obey God’s Word from the heart.
The Priesthood of the Believer
We believe every believer has direct access to God through Jesus Christ. Because of Christ’s work on the cross, we can personally approach our Heavenly Father in prayer and enjoy a direct relationship with Him without the need for any other intercessor.
